Georges-William Thornley
Pastoral Life of Saint Geneviève (right panel)
c. 1888
'The Pastoral Life of St. Genevieve (Right Panel)' is a lithograph on paper by the 19th-century French engraver Georges-William Thornley, reproducing Pierre Puvis de Chavannes's famous Symbolist mural cycle for the Paris Panthéon. Thornley specialised in high-quality lithographic facsimiles of his contemporaries' paintings — a key vehicle for the international circulation of Puvis's dreamy pastoral classicism.
