Laurent de La Hyre
Panthea, Cyrus, and Araspas
1631-34
Laurent de La Hyre's 'Panthea, Cyrus, and Araspas' (1631–1634) depicts a moralising episode from Xenophon's 'Cyropaedia': the Persian prince Cyrus grants the captured Panthea to his companion Araspas, who betrays his trust by falling in love with her.
