Celadon Maebyeong with Inlaid Cloud and Crane Design (National Museum)
12세기
A Goryeo-dynasty celadon prunus vase (maebyeong) with inlaid clouds and cranes, produced around the 12th–13th century in the Gangjin kilns of southern Korea. Standing roughly 41.7 cm tall, the vase shows the distinctive Goryeo silhouette — broad, sloping shoulders and a small narrow mouth — and its surface is incised and inlaid in black and white slip with 46 soaring cranes and curling cloud bands arranged in elegant horizontal rings. It is a supreme example of Korea's distinctive 'sanggam' inlay technique and the refined jade-green 'bi-saek' (secret colour) glaze, and is designated National Treasure No. 68. Together with the version in the National Museum of Korea, it is one of the icons of Korean ceramic art.
