경천사 십층석탑
1348
Built in 1348 at the end of the Goryeo dynasty by a joint team of Yuan Chinese and Korean craftsmen, the 13.5-metre-tall Marble Ten-Story Pagoda of Gyeongcheonsa Temple is among the largest stone pagodas on the Korean peninsula. Each tier is densely carved with Buddhist narrative reliefs, functioning as a 'sutra in stone'. Illegally removed to Japan in 1907 and returned to Korea in 1918, it has been designated National Treasure No. 86 and stands today indoors at the centre of the Great Hall of the National Museum of Korea.
