Decolonial Constellation

Since the mid-2010s the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) has anchored its permanent rehang around the thematic section 'Constelaciones decoloniales' ('Decolonial Constellations'), which places works by late 20th- and 21st-century artists from southern Europe, Latin America, the Maghreb, and Southeast Asia into conversation — reconstructing the dense networks of 'peripheral' contemporary art long ignored by European museums. Catalan figures such as Antoni Muntadas and Núria Güell are shown alongside Alfredo Jaar, Santu Mofokeng, and Marwa Arsanios, recasting the canonical Euro–American narrative of contemporary art.
