Nick Cave's 'Until' (2016), installed in Building 5 at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, fills the museum's 4,500 m² flagship gallery with a phantasmagoric cloud of millions of suspended crystals and glass beads, interspersed with Cave's signature 'Soundsuits', weather vanes, toy guns, and ceramic cats. Translating the contemporary American traumas of gun violence, racial conflict, and police killings into an overwhelming visual fantasy, it is one of the largest and most celebrated American installations of the 2010s.
