Lee Ufan
Multi-Layered Space
2014
A large 'Dialogue' canvas by Lee Ufan from the 2000s, now in the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA Seoul). A single dense pigment stroke placed near one edge confronts a vast blank field — the artist's lifelong meditation on the meeting of mark and void. The painting represents Lee's mature idiom bridging Korean Dansaekhwa and Japanese Mono-ha, and is a key permanent display in MMCA Seoul's postwar Korean galleries.
