Arario Museum in Space, which opened in 2014 in the Jongno district of Seoul, occupies the famous 1971 Space (Gongkan) Building by Korean modernist architect Kim Swoo-geun — itself a heritage landmark. It displays hundreds of works from the collection of founder Kim Chang-il, juxtaposing East and South Asian and Western contemporary artists (Do Ho Suh, Subodh Gupta, Yoshitomo Nara, Tracey Emin, Cai Guo-Qiang) within the restored concrete-and-brick labyrinth — one of the most important Asian contemporary-art holdings in Korea.
