Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, St. Petersburg

Plate

1755–60

A hard-paste porcelain plate from the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St Petersburg, produced in the 19th century for the Romanov court. Founded in 1744 and equipped to match Meissen and Sèvres, the factory established the standard for Russian imperial table ware; this plate, enamel-painted with florals or a court emblem, is held as a reference piece in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's European ceramics collection.
