Train Landscape
1953
Ellsworth Kelly's 'Train Landscape' (1952–1953) is a three-panel oil composed from fragmentary impressions glimpsed through a train window in southern France: a green panel, a bluff yellow, and a dark stripe joined edge-to-edge. The radical reduction anticipated the shaped canvases Kelly would explore for the next six decades. Art Institute of Chicago.
