Interior at Nice
1919
Henri Matisse's 'Interior at Nice' (1919–1920) is one of the intimate hotel-room interiors he painted soon after moving to the French Riviera. A reclining model against shuttered windows and a decorative floor captures the Mediterranean light and ornamental softness of his Nice period. Oil on canvas, Art Institute of Chicago.
