Painterly Realism of a Football Player—Color Masses in the 4th Dimension

1915

Kazimir Malevich's 'Painterly Realism of a Football Player — Colour Masses of the 4th Dimension' (1915) was shown at the landmark '0,10' exhibition in Petrograd that unveiled Suprematism. Unlike Malevich's pure geometric Suprematist works, the picture retains a title with a figurative premise — football player — only to dissolve it into floating coloured rectangles. Oil on canvas, Art Institute of Chicago.
