Nude with Cats
1901
Pablo Picasso's 'Mother and Child' or 'Female Nude with Cat' (1901), painted in his early Blue Period (oil on cardboard), shows a pensive woman cradling her cat against a cool, desolate ground. The monochrome blue tonality and melancholic poverty anticipate the great canvases of the Blue Period soon to come. Art Institute of Chicago.
