Henri Matisse's 'Daisies' ('Marguerites', 1939) is a late still life of a bouquet of daisies in a rounded vase, painted on the eve of the Second World War with Matisse's characteristically flattened planes of saturated rose, green, and yellow. Oil on canvas, Art Institute of Chicago.
