Head of a Woman
summer 1909
Pablo Picasso's 'Head of a Woman' (1908–1909) is an early Analytic-Cubist portrait in which the face of Fernande Olivier is broken into angular planes that fuse the geometry of Iberian sculpture with the faceting of Picasso's emerging Cubist vocabulary. Oil on canvas, Art Institute of Chicago.
