Hat Rack
1917/1964
Marcel Duchamp's 'Hat Rack' (1917, replica 1964) is one of his readymades: an ordinary wooden hat rack suspended from the gallery ceiling so that, upended, its hooks tip toward the viewer like a sculptural chandelier. A signature object of early 20th-century Dada. Wood, Art Institute of Chicago.
