Claude Monet (French, 1840–1926)
Water Lilies (Agapanthus)
c. 1915–26
Claude Monet's 'Water Lilies (Agapanthus)' (c. 1915–1926) is one of the enormous late panels from the Giverny cycle. Water lilies, reflections of willow, and a sweep of blue agapanthus fuse into a near-abstract field of colour at the threshold of 20th-century painting. Oil on canvas, Cleveland Museum of Art.
