Edgar Degas (French, 1834–1917)
Dancer Looking at the Sole of her Right Foot
1896–97
A bronze cast of Edgar Degas's 'Dancer Looking at the Sole of Her Right Foot', one of the wax figures Degas modelled privately for much of his life and which were cast posthumously in bronze. The restless, unbalanced pose is typical of his observations of working dancers' bodies. Cleveland Museum of Art.
