Self-Portrait (Francisco de Goya)

John I Smart (British, 1741–1811)

Self-Portrait (Francisco de Goya)

1802

A watercolour miniature on ivory of Francisco de Goya, executed in 1802 by the English miniaturist John Smart (1741–1811) during Smart's European travels. The painting is housed in its original gold-and-enamel frame and belongs to the European miniature collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art — a rare late 18th-century English-Spanish exchange in portrait miniature.
