Édouard Vuillard (French, 1868–1940)
Woman Ironing
1892
Édouard Vuillard's 'Woman Ironing' (1895–1900) depicts an absorbed domestic worker bent over her ironing board in a warmly patterned interior. Painted on board in his characteristic Nabi intimism, the small oil typifies Vuillard's lifelong fascination with women at everyday tasks. Cleveland Museum of Art.
