Cupid Secretly Drawing an Arrow
1807
Gilles-Lambert Godecharle's terracotta 'Cupid Secretly Removing an Arrow' (late 18th century) is a Neoclassical small sculpture by the leading Belgian sculptor of the period. The winged Cupid tiptoes as he withdraws an arrow from his quiver, the sculptor's fine modelling of the soft clay typical of the Enlightenment-era taste for playful mythologies.
