Mlle. Alexandrine-Julie de la Boutraye
c. 1832–34
Eugène Delacroix's 'Mademoiselle Alexandrine-Julie de La Boutraye' (c. 1820s) is a Romantic portrait of a young Frenchwoman by the future master of the Romantic movement. The sitter's soft brown curls and direct gaze typify the early portrait mode Delacroix worked in before his great history paintings. Oil on fabric, Cleveland Museum of Art.
