Philipp Hackert's 'View of the Bay of Pozzuoli with the Solfatara' (1780s) is a classical landscape by the German painter who settled in Naples and became the favoured landscape painter to the Bourbon court. The smoking Solfatara crater beside the bay was one of the most celebrated Grand Tour destinations. Oil on canvas, Cleveland Museum of Art.
