Medardo Rosso (Italian, 1859–1928)
The Jewish Boy
c. 1892
Medardo Rosso's 'Jewish Boy' ('Jüdischer Junge', 1892–1893) is a bust cast in coloured wax over plaster, the delicate fugitive surface blurring the features as if glimpsed fleetingly. The Italian sculptor's revolutionary use of wax made him a key precursor of modern sculpture. Cleveland Museum of Art.
