Félix Vallotton (Swiss French, 1865–1925)
The Bistro
c. 1895
Félix Vallotton's 'The Bistro' (1892) is an early work by the Swiss-French Nabi painter, depicting the interior of a Parisian café in flat decorative patches of warm and cool tones — the sharp, almost woodcut-like simplification that would make Vallotton famous. Oil on canvas, Cleveland Museum of Art.
