Hong Kong Impression
2021
A gallery within M+ Hong Kong devoted to the museum's own architecture: the inverted-T complex designed by Herzog & de Meuron that opened in 2021 in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Cantilevered over the rail tunnels of the Airport Express, the long horizontal podium meets a vertical tower clad with Hong Kong's largest LED media façade. After dark, moving-image works from the collection are projected across the harbour toward Tsim Sha Tsui, turning the skyline itself into an exhibition. The building is presented here as an artwork — a prototype for the 21st-century museum.
