Istanbul Modern Building

A gallery section dedicated to Istanbul Modern's new Renzo Piano–designed building, which reopened on the Karaköy waterfront of the Bosphorus in May 2023. Raised slightly above the former docks on slender columns, the five-storey structure appears to float, its double glass façade mirroring the sea; a rooftop reflecting pool and swimming pool pull daylight down into the interior. Replacing the earlier warehouse conversion, the new Modern unifies permanent and temporary galleries, a library, a theatre, and a harbour-view café — a signature example of contemporary museum architecture linking Turkey to the international scene.
