Fondation Louis Vuitton — Gehry's Twelve Glass Sails in the Bois de Boulogne
At a Glance
Fondation Louis Vuitton sits in Paris's Bois de Boulogne, founded by LVMH's Bernard Arnault and opened 22 October 2014. Frank Gehry's building is wrapped in twelve curved glass sails — 3,584 panels over a GRC iceberg.
Gehry's 11th Masterpiece
The building won the 2015 RIBA International Award. Height was capped to respect the surrounding trees, so most of the exhibition volume is underground. The auditorium features Ellsworth Kelly's late wall of colored panels.
