Nasher Sculpture Center — A Roofless Garden in Dallas
At a Glance
The Nasher Sculpture Center in the Dallas Arts District opened October 2003. Built on the 300-work collection of Ray and Patsy Nasher, it pairs Renzo Piano's five glass pavilions with Peter Walker's 1.4-acre sculpture garden.
Sculpture at the Heart of Dallas
The Nashers first displayed their collection at NorthPark Center shopping mall. In the late 1990s they decided the works had to stay in Dallas. Piano's pavilions use an aluminum oculi roof to filter Texas sunlight.
