Seoul One-Day Museum Route — MMCA, SeMA, and Horim
At a Glance
Three major institutions within 5 km of central Seoul cover 1,500 years of Korean art: MMCA Seoul (contemporary), SeMA (20th-century Korean), and Horim Museum (traditional).
Three Roles
MMCA Seoul opened 2013 on the Jongchinbu royal site. SeMA main building dates to 1927 as a Japanese-era courthouse. Horim, founded 1981, holds 15,000 traditional artifacts.
1-Day Route
- 10:00 MMCA Seoul.
- 14:00 SeMA main near Deoksugung.
- 16:30 Horim Sinsa branch.
- 18:30 Dinner in Garosu-gil or Samcheong-dong.
Tips
All three closed Mondays. MMCA free on the last Wednesday. SeMA always free. Best in spring and autumn.
