A Scene Looked at for a Long Time — SeMA Seoseoul Museum of Art
A Scene Looked at for a Long Time
SeMA Seoseoul Museum of Art opened in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, on March 12, 2026. As a newly opened branch of the Seoul Museum of Art network and a public museum focused on new media art, it feels less like a sealed gallery and more like a neighborhood space where moving images, sound, installation, archives, and local memory begin to meet.
The first exhibition to see is the opening special exhibition Our Time Begins Here, running through July 12, 2026. It traces the making of the museum and the layered memories of southwestern Seoul through photography, installation, new media, workshops, and works placed not only in galleries but also in the lobby, learning spaces, loading shutter area, and lawn.
What stays with me is not only the freshness of a new building but the way older local time and an unwritten future overlap in the same frame. This is a museum worth walking slowly, including the exterior and lawn, rather than treating it as a quick stop.
Admission is free. Hours are Tue-Fri 10:00-20:00, weekends and holidays 10:00-19:00 from March to October and 10:00-18:00 from November to February. Last admission is one hour before closing. Address: 65 Siheung-daero 79-gil, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. Main phone: 02-2124-5800.
