Founded in 1991 by local residents determined to preserve the legacy of the 1947 Roswell Incident, the International UFO Museum and Research Center occupies a former cinema on Main Street in downtown Roswell, New Mexico. Its permanent exhibits reconstruct the alleged crash of a high-altitude object on the Foster Ranch through declassified military documents, witness testimonies from rancher Mac Brazel and intelligence officer Jesse Marcel, contemporary newspapers, and dioramas. Beyond Roswell itself, the museum surveys worldwide UFO lore — ancient astronaut theories, crop circles, abduction cases — and houses a research library with thousands of books, periodicals, and case files used by scholars of modern ufology.
