Denver Art Museum

Founded in 1893 and now housed in two signature buildings — Gio Ponti's 1971 North Building and Daniel Libeskind's jagged 2006 Frederic C. Hamilton Building — the Denver Art Museum is one of the largest encyclopedic art institutions between the West Coast and Chicago. Its collection of more than 70,000 works is especially renowned for pre-Columbian, Spanish Colonial, and Indigenous Arts of North America holdings, which comprise one of the finest surveys of Native American art anywhere. Additional strengths include European painting, modern and contemporary art, Asian and African collections, and an active photography program. A major renovation completed in 2021 added the Sie Welcome Center, restored Ponti's original tiled façade, and reorganized galleries to foreground Indigenous and Latin American voices.
